National Informatics Centre, Jhansi was inaugurated on March 9, 1989. The operations however started in August 1990 when a new power line was installed. Since then the centres services have been utilized by various departments at the District & Divisional level.

The works undertaken by NIC Jhansi can be broadly classified into 5 categories.
1. Data processing
2. Management Information System & Information Systems
3. Communications
4. Training
5. Others.

Data Processing

Data processing is one of the major tasks which is very helpful for the district administration. At the district level there are many jobs done on a routine basis which just involves, calculating and compiling information. As a first step we make the users feel that a computer can be really helpful for them.

Information Systems

Information & Monitoring Systems like Land Records, Reference, Court Cases, Arms Information, Village Directory, District Plan, Recovery Certificate, Census Data, are some project which plays very important role for monitoring and providing assistance in decision making. By these project District Administration are kept well informed with the latest status.


National Informatics Centre , Jhansi is connected through a "Micro Earth Station" & "Personal Earth Station" to the NIC Network NICNET and INTERNET. It is a satellite based network. Through this network the centre can communicate with all districts in India, State Capitals, New Delhi and Offices having the same facility and all the Internet sites. The purpose of this network is basically to improve the efficiency of data transfer from district level to state capitals and New Delhi. It provides electronic mail through which messages can be transmitted and received.


Training is an essential work of the centre to make the administration aware of the potentials of computers. From time to time Officers from various departments were called and an CAP (Computer Appreciation Porgramme) was conducted. The response so far has been encouraging but the people with a technical background were found to be more enthusiastic than others.

Clerks & Lekhpals have also been trained in data entry and are comfortable with the system.


Apart from Implementation and Development of Application S/w we have to assist other departments like Treasury, Jt. Director Treasury, District Court Centre, Agriculture Marketing, Central Excise, Dy. Director (Stat), DESTO Office, Railways Public Grievance Monitoring Systems, DRDA, Election Office.
